One of our Proud Possessions there is the Flag Pole! If you observe the Flag Pole closely, you will notice that it is unique! It’s unique because it was removed from an ocean-going vessel. It was its Sail Mast with its “stays”-“cross bars” and support steel wires!
At one time it was the highest Flag Pole in town. Now eclipsed by the Flag Pole erected at the Sanjivayya Park by the Govt of Telangana. This was supposedly installed in the year 1874 to commemorate the visit of Prince Albert to Hyderabad State.
Traditionally, the topmost Flag is our National Flag, on the right side of the crossbar is the flag of our Commodore and on the left is the Vice-Commodore. This is a proud Naval tradition carried out by us. As the Commodore enters the Sailing Club, the Tindal hoists his Flag to inform all Sailors both in the water and on the ground that the Commodore has arrived.
