Secunderabad Club

Boat Club

Our efforts to cajole our Members to search their files/papers etc to see any reference to correspondence, photos, memorabilia etc is not bringing in results. However, this month we reproduce a picture of our Sailing Annexe which was called the “Boat Club” going back to the 1920’s.
The first picture is of the Sailing Annexe (Boat Club) with a quaint wooden Pontoon in the foreground.
On the extreme right we can see the flag mast with the huge banyan tree in the background. Of course today all the contours of the Club have changed.

Post Card

This picture was printed as a post card for tourists to write back home from Secunderabad.
The second picture tells us that the post-card was printed in Germany and probably sold/marketed by Spencer & Co Ltd, Secunderabad.
Many of us Secunderabad residents remember the beautiful Spencer & Co., building next to the Tajmahal Hotel on S D Road.
We thank our Member Mr Nikhil Rangadas, for this contribution from his extensive collection of post-cards depicting Hyderabad/Secunderabad.
