The Secunderabad Club Heritage
Established by the British in 1878, The Secunderabad Club stands as one of India’s oldest and most distinguished clubs. Nestled on a lush, green, 22-acre campus, its century-old Main Club House has been granted Heritage status by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority. Towering trees, some of which are over a century old, gracefully host a variety of chirping birds, creating an oasis of tranquility amidst the bustling city.
Until 1947, the privilege of presidency and membership at The Secunderabad Club was exclusively reserved for British citizens and a select few high-ranking Hyderabad nobility. However, today, the Club boasts an impressive membership of 8000, encompassing individuals from all walks of life – military officers, bureaucrats, diplomats, police officials, erstwhile royalty, professionals, scientists, and businessmen, totalling over 30,000 potential members.
The Club is renowned for its refined elegance and opulent lifestyle, cocooned in the enchanting verdant landscapes of Secunderabad.
An exclusive retreat for its discerning members, it offers the finest
amenities, ranging from sports facilities and a state-of-the-art gym to exquisite banquets, sophisticated bars, and more.
Exceptional dining experiences and an extensive collection of books cater to the intellectual appetites of the members, while indoor and outdoor sports, including a well-maintained cricket field, provide avenues for recreation and camaraderie. Notably, The Secunderabad Club takes pride in possessing its own dedicated Sailing Annexe, a distinction rarely found in other members’ clubs. Furthermore, the Club offers unparalleled arrangements for hosting social gatherings, tailored to suit the discerning preferences of its esteemed members.
A Managing Committee elected through democratic means remains committed to upholding the cherished traditions of the Club, ensuring its legacy of excellence continues to flourish.
