The flora and fauna of our Club have taken a beating over the years. Pollution and insufficient water have led to many fruit-bearing trees dying. This led to a huge number of birds not visiting us as they used to earlier.
There was a huge langur (monkey) who visited the Club every Sunday and sat at the cricket pavilion and waited for the staff to feed him with a few bananas or a few slices of bread. Sad, we don’t see him anymore.
One of the oldest surviving trees on campus is the Peepal tree opposite the main building. This tree too is getting old with three other trees growing from within. The age of this tree is more than 110 years as can be seen from this photograph taken in the year 1904.
